Why cleanse now?
According to Ayurveda, doshas accumulate during each season and need to be released during the season’s transitions in order for them not to lodge further into the bodily tissues and create imbalance.
Use the advantage of time and cleanse together with us during the weeks around the equinox transitioning from pitta season to vata season.
When the dosha is not brought back into balance during a seasonal transition and Agni is not at par, the dosha might ‘boil over’ and overflow into the tissues. Pitta might show itself as skin issues, inflammation, fever, eye problems, acid reflux, loose stools and irritability and vāta as muscolo-skeletal imbalances, joint pain, colic, constipation, dryness or anxiety.
In the temperate zones or four season zones of North America and Europe, pitta is at its peak at the end of summer and the dryness that the heat produces causes vāta to accumulate, the dosha that will peak during the autumn because of the addition of more wind and more cold.
During this cleanse we are going to remove the excess pitta from the intestines and preventing vāta to accumulate by means of one of the panchakarma methods called virechana using a mild purgative/laxative after having prepared the organism well with the appropriate preparatory therapies, like internal and external oleation, diet and herbs. In addition you will learn how to sustainably pattern yourself for vāta season.
What will you receive?
The cleanse consists of a week of practices including a simplified diet, breathwork, self-oiling, taking herbs and finally pulling the dosha out of the body by means of a mild purgation. This process helps to support the body to let go of Āma (toxins) and the accumulated doshas.
Each day we will meet on Zoom for an hour to do a short meditation and pranayama practice, check in and keep track of how everyone is doing. The meetings will take place at 7pm Central European Time (6pm GMT or 1pm EST) from 24th to 30th of September.
